"Wherever you are, know that we remember you." - These words reflect the boundless gratitude and memory of Natalia Ivanovna, a woman of incredible strength, unwavering faith and unbreakable spirit, whose story remains in the hearts of her descendants as a symbol of courage and immortality of spirit.
Childhood
Natalia Ivanovna was born in an atmosphere of turbulent events at the beginning of the 20th century in a western Ukrainian city. Her early years were marked by instability and displacement caused by the policy of collectivization, which radically changed her family's life. The loss of the family property was an ordeal that was etched in the little girl's memory, but it also taught her to be strong and resilient in the face of adversity.
Student days
With a dream of a better future, Natalia entered a chemical engineering college, where she excelled as one of the most talented students in her class. During this period, she met her love, her future husband with German roots. Their union, full of love and common interests, unfortunately, was the cause of future trials for both of them.
Children and the trials of war
On the eve of the war, Natalia gave birth to a son, my grandfather, who became the light of her life. However, when the war broke out, the family faced incredible hardships: her husband was exiled, leaving Natalia alone to fight for survival in inhumane conditions. Despite this, her unbreakable spirit and faith in a better future have kept her hope alive.
The last years of life
After the war, because of her German surname, Natalia was also exiled, torn from her family home and separated from her son. For fourteen years she fought for the right to return to her family, a testament to her unwavering willpower and faith. Her return became a symbol of the triumph of the spirit over injustice, but unfortunately, her years were already on the wane, and she passed away, leaving behind a rich legacy of memories and unwavering faith in the future.
Dear grandmother Natasha, how happy we were to see you every time, you were like a ray of sunshine always gave care and warmth to everyone. You always succeeded in everything. I remember, if I couldn't make borscht, you would come up and work magic on it and it turned out the most delicious! I'm glad my oldest daughter was able to catch you while you were with us, and my youngest learned about you from your journals. We remember you and love you!
I love you and miss you. Remembering the time we spent at the summer house. The cottage is fine, Uncle Andrei is looking after it. Everything is the same as it was, except that we stopped planting crops, and the grass, if you don't mow it, grows to your waist, you know. Don't complain too much, okay? Kisses
Natalia Ivanovna, thank you for your wonderful granddaughter. It was a pleasure to know you in your lifetime!
When I went through a very anxious phase as a child, I got it God Bless' on every step going upstairs to bed. I did this every day for the best part of a year and Mum always replied without even a hint of irritation as she knew how important it was to me, although I am sure she was happy when I grew out of that phase !
